About now our Muslim brothers and sisters are celebrating the Festival of Eid al-Fitr, also known as, the Festival of Fast-breaking. It is generally a festival of thanksgiving to the Almighty for granting the grace and strength to pull through a month of self-privation and restraint. It is also a festival for alms-giving, remembering the poor and less-privileged and reflecting on ways to lessen the burden of the disadvantaged in our societies.
Prophet Muhammad! Spiritually prepared, equipped and sent as a Messenger of the Light to the world; starting with the Arab people. His task was to lead the people to the consciousness and worship of One God, The Almighty, the Creator of Heaven and Earth! Unfortunately, the people who were deep in all forms of Dark worships and heinous rituals would have no part of his teachings and therefore, resisted/persecuted him vehemently.
It became obvious that they were too immured in Darkness to listen to his lofty message and that subtle persuasion would yield little or no result. The Prophet was left with no other option than to apply force and impose strict personal and community restrictions!
Prophet Muhammad is possibly the most misunderstood Light messenger in history! Misunderstood by friends and believers and misunderstood by foes and unbelievers!
The believers harness themselves to the day-to-day observances of the Prophet rather than pay greater attention to his pure words received from Above! They misinterpret the use of force by the Prophet and thereby disregard the admonition of the Almighty which warns against revenging any wrongdoing on His behalf!
On the other hand, an overwhelming number of those who shun Islam, do so on account of the conduct of many a self-proclaimed believer! They are, figuratively speaking, judging the product by its salesmen, without even trying it! They have not made sufficient effort to come close to the work of the Prophet, nor have they, with open minds, sort for unadulterated accounts of the life and teachings of the Prophet!
If they had done so, they would have found in Prophet Mohammad a true Messenger of The Most High God; who came to bring peace, love, compassion and enlightenment not only to the small kingdom of Arabia but, to all mankind!
With the discerning faithfuls who have absorbed The Prophet’s true teachings and live in the right manner, we join you in celebrating this Festival and reflecting on the life and times of the Great Prophet!

Happy Eid al-Fitr, dear friends!
