Blessings on this vigil of Advent…

Vespers 1 of the First Sunday of Advent…O come!

Each year as we begin this most beautiful season of hope and promise, this little verse from Jan Richardson is etched…in our hearts…

“The season of Advent means there is something on the horizon the likes of which we have never seen before.
It is not possible to keep it from coming, because it will. That’s just how Advent works….

So stay. Sit. Linger. Tarry. Ponder. Wait. Behold. Wonder.
There will be time enough for running. For rushing. For worrying. For pushing.
For now, stay.
Something is on the horizon.”

~ from Night Visions by Jan Richardson

Blessings on this vigil of Advent…let us pray for one another that we will be able to stay, sit, wait and wonder with our Advent horizon.

  1. Thank you. How important it is to stop and be quiet for awhile and think about what the season is all about–the birth of the Savior and Messiah, and what it all meant. Bless you.
