Happy New Month….welcome November!

Happy New Month! Once again, welcome to the month when the drumbeats get louder while the drummers get colder particularly in the Northern Hemisphere! The drumbeats get louder by the day heralding and celebrating big events like Thanksgiving Day, National and Independence Days of many countries and ecstatic preparations for end-of-year/New Year festivities!
In contrast, the drummers feel the increasing chill in the air as etheric autumn gradually gives way to winter and, in another region, the dry but, cold Harmattan winds blow across the usually warm sub-Saharan Africa!
Welcome to the month of friendship symbolized by November’s birthstone, Topaz and the somber elegance of Chrysanthemum, its birth flower!!
In the spirit of friendship I am sharing a text message from a friend who crossed my paths (although we are yet to physically meet) about two years ago and who has so regularly kept in touch that, figuratively speaking, he is more real than my next door neighbor! I received the text minutes before mid-night yesterday 31st October…..this year’s Halloween experience.. that’s a story for another day!
